Today we're delving into the world of telecommunications and what has become in many ways the defining issue of European integration,

or rather the failure to achieve EU integration, at least as far as the creation of a single

telecommunications market is concerned.

Roaming.

Now, anyone with a mobile phone knows exactly what we're talking about.

In Europe, roaming is a fraught affair.

While there are no longer border guards and passport checks at national borders, your mobile device and more importantly

your telecom provider knows exactly when you're crossing a border. And you, the user, will

become aware of that when you receive your bill at the end of the month. Some things are

uh end roaming surcharges by summer, basically.

And it's a promise that has been made many times, and it's a promise that has not quite come true many times.

So I think, you know, is it going to happen in June?

Partially, but there's still going to be many remaining issues to resolve in the coming

years. It's not going to be gone.

Well, let's talk about that. So we've got this June 15 date, which is the date in which the new
