0:00.0	Well, hello there. My name is Morgan Harper-Nichols. I'm an artist and a writer, and this is a space where I share words that I hope can make a little room for you to slow down and take a few deep breaths as you prepare for whatever lies ahead. Thanks for being here today. And now on to today's episode. Today's episode is inspired by painting that I did
0:30.7	of a row of trees growing out of a brightly colored hillside. They stand tall and strong against a pale pink sky and clouds of various
0:40.4	hues. And I'll link the painting in the show notes for anyone who's interested in viewing it.
0:44.8	This is one of my favorite images and I think that what I love the most about it is its vibrant messiness.
0:51.1	I'm enamored by the colors of this image because when I was painting it, they
0:55.7	actually weren't the intended colors that I was going for, but I ended up loving it nonetheless.
1:02.2	They overlap imperfectly, and at the same time, they complement each other in their own unique
1:07.7	way. I think the reason why I love these elements of painting is because life
1:12.8	is often a lot like that. It is not always neat and organized many of our experiences, whether they
1:18.9	are joyful or sorrowful ones, don't exist as isolate events that are independent of one another.
1:26.2	Oftentimes, our emotions come together like a painting,
1:30.2	colors overlapping imperfectly,
1:32.9	and deepening our understanding of life.
1:36.1	These instances, like the colors in this painting,
1:39.4	take shape in many forms.
1:42.1	Perhaps joyous memories of being in love are obscured by the grief of losing that love.
1:48.5	Perhaps the exciting adventure of starting a new job coincides with the stress of undertaking a new set
1:55.4	of responsibilities. Perhaps the brave decision to know oneself on a deeper level can also reveal uncomfortable truths that you must learn to accept.
2:07.3	Sometimes these experiences can give us the impression that our stories are all over the place,
2:13.4	like we are incapable of determining how we really feel.
2:17.7	But the reality is that our story is still taking shape
2:21.2	even when it doesn't look or feel that way,
