The light from the television flashes between bright and deep blues, with voices that speak about some new product that has come out, available for a limited time.

You know it is late, and yes, you know that you have to go to work tomorrow.

Just a few more minutes on the warm couch, you say to yourself.

Getting into the cold bed will only wake you up.

Knock, knock.

You hear voices at the door.

The soothing whisper reminds you of the choir you were a part of in high school.

Out of tune and unsynchronized.

You smile thinking back on all those jokes you'd play on each other back then as you dig

your face into the cushion one more time and away from the flashing lights of the television

in front of you. There's nothing you'd like more than to be under your covers, but it is the getting there part

that bothers you.

The television now speaks of some other thing worth 1995, reminding you that representatives

are waiting for your call when you hear another knocking at the door followed by the knock knock

your eyes open white now and you're frozen in place unwilling to move any single part of your body

the TV feels louder than ever as you try to listen for something, anything, that will give you a clue as to

who could be at the door at this hour.

There it is again.

You sit up on the couch and reach for the remote control.
