Aloha and welcome to Amen podcast. I'm Lockelaani, your host and today's episode is a little bit

different because Alex and I are recording separately. We just had a few different recording mishaps

this week, so we're having to do it separately so we can take turns watching the kids,

but we will still follow

our same format of intro, Alex's sermon, and after the amen at the end. Another cool thing

is that this is our Resurrection Sunday or Easter text, and so this message was also preached at house church

on Easter Sunday. And it just happened to fall in line with exactly where we were in Matthew.

So if you have your Bibles open right now in Matthew 28. You'll see the heading, The Resurrection.

And we've been in the series for a couple years now. And we just happened to land on this text

on Easter Sunday. Super cool. I don't know if we shared that in the previous episode. I don't think

we did, but it was something that just was a cool little detail that brought joy to my heart.

So without further ado, I will give us an intro, read the text, and then turn it over to Alex.

The empty tomb isn't just a historical event. It's a

declaration that God's love cannot be defeated, that he stepped into our humanity to meet us where we

are, and that because of what happened on that Sunday morning, we are invited into his presence

forever.

2,000 years later, the tomb is still empty, and that changes everything.

Open your Bibles to Matthew 28, verses 1 through 10.

I will read the text, and then Alex will take it away.

Now after the Sabbath toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb.

And behold, there was a great earthquake for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it.
