Empowered Day 5. The filling of the Spirit.

Do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,

Ephesians 518.

What is the filling of the Spirit?

My wife and I were married in 1980 and purchased our first home a year later. It needed much work. So my granddad came down to help. He lost his farm in the depression and became a carpenter and worked until he died at the age of 99. He built a tool shed for us, installed sheet rock in the garage, redid our

kitchen and generally transformed the house. I still remember his reaction his first day with us

when he looked at my tools. I had a wrench, a hammer, and a few screwdrivers to my name.

So he took me to the hardware store and bought me a power drill. He had to show me

how to use it, change the bits and so on. I've used it ever since. But one thing he didn't

have to explain was the fact that the drill must be plugged into a power source. Unplugged,

it's of little use. There's nothing wrong with it. It just needs power.

So it is with the people of God.

Walking through the Book of Acts, we see the power of God at work on every hand.

3,000 are saved at Pentecost.

A cripple man is healed.

Fearful disciples are now preaching boldly to the Cyan. Saul of Tarsus is converted.
