Today's topic is about employee benefits and what investment questions you can ask HR about.

So whether you're switching jobs, switching careers, or finding a new job in the same career, or you just want to make sure you're taking advantage of all the benefits at your current job, here's the most important questions to ask your benefits team.

The first question and the first place to start comes down to investments. That's where I like to start.

So questions to ask, what type of pension plan does the

company offer? What are my investment options? Is there an employer match? How long is the

vesting period? Here's why those are important. Taking advantage of an employer match is like

taking advantage of free money. Whatever amount you put up in comparison to the corporate match is matched,

which means if you put in 3%, they'll put in 3% for your retirement as well.

Some companies put in a match of 3%, some do 4, some 5.

It all differs and depends on the company.

Now here's why you want to ask what the vesting period is.

The vesting period is how long you have to be with the company until you can really have that money before you can call it yours.
