Are we, yes, where are we here? Why are we here not entirely clear? We are misfits thrust into existence by random chance with no hints at all as to how we're supposed to make sense of it all.

It's immensely bizarre. Here we are.

Hello everybody and welcome to the here. We are podcast. We're going to be talking a lot about emotion today, which is great. This is, I had a wonderful day to kind of set up this conversation in that so many things went wrong.

My wonderful guest has been so patient. We had some technical difficulties. He went from his house into the university to try to bunch of different headphones.

Oh my goodness. It's been a, it's been an order. It hasn't been there's bigger things in life to worry about for sure, but there's a, there's like, there's just been a series of like inconveniences today. It started with as I was already running late.

I got locked in my bathroom.

I think I already shared with Nicholas, but I'm raising awareness for this new issue that I didn't, it was never on my radar before.

What you want to do is maybe keep a screwdriver under your sink. In case the handle or the lock mechanism in your bathroom handle just breaks and it turns and it doesn't open.

Fortunately, I was on the ground floor, was able to crawl out my bathroom window, get a screwdriver, crawl back in. And that's, that's how it started.

And then this was like hours ago. And then Nicholas and I have been dealing with tech issues and all of these other things. And I, I, I'm so fortunate to have such a wonderfully patient guest with me today.

Thanks for joining me, Nicholas. This is again, we also recorded for a few minutes and then had issues come up. And there's subways going by your, or trains going by your part.

Wow, this is, it's been a real emotional roller coaster.

That's exactly what I was thinking, Shane, you know, we had some fear, we had some frustration and anger.

Some, you know, like feelings of triumph and excitement when we finally get it to work. So an emotional day in here.

Yeah, yeah, this is, it really set things up quite nicely, especially for, it's, I want to let you set up what you do.

And, and some of the basics of your background and research first.

But there's definitely specifics of some of your research that I've already been thinking about as all of this has been going on over the last couple of hours.

So why don't you introduce yourself to the good listeners?

Yeah, so Nicholas Coles, I am a research scientist at Stanford University, previously a postdoctoral research fellow at Harvard University.

And before that was a PhD student at University of Tennessee, working with Dr. Jeff Larson, who has also been on this show many times.

And of course, my, my greatest accolades so far is actually being on this podcast.
