This is an emergency edge of sports as we are speaking about the International Olympic Committee's total ban on transgender athletes,

particularly aimed at transgender women and non-binary folks from competing in the Olympic Games.

A huge, huge change from as recently as 2017 when the IOC attempted to really project itself as a model of inclusion.

Those days are dead under the leadership of Christy Coventry.

And I have a great person to talk about that with.

His name is Harrison Brown.

Harrison Brown has been a guest on this podcast before.

He is the first transgender athlete in the history of professional hockey. He was part of the

NWHL, National Women's Hockey League, and played for the Metropolitan Riveters and the Buffalo

Butes. He helped form the first transgender policy in professional sports in North America.

This is just, and he's got an incredible resume. He is the appointed inclusion

leader for the NWHL advisory board and special ambassador to the National Hockey League's

Hockey is for Everyone initiative. That's the NHL. He is co-author of the book, and it's a great

book, Let Us Play, Winning the Battle for Gender Diverse Athletes.

He's also a filmmaker who short film Pink Light premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival,

and an actor who recently appeared in the hit show, Everyone's Favorite, Heated Rivalry.
