Well, the news indeed arrived on Monday, and it wasn't what Lakers fans wanted to hear. Dan Hurley said thanks, but no thanks, to the Lakers, and will remain in Storrs, Connecticut to coach the Huskies. So the Lakers are still without a head coach, except now they have a high profile failure in the headlines. Why did they fail? It's possible that Hurley was never leaving, and was only using the Lakers as leverage. It's possible that the pull from UConn, with a chance for a 3-peat and deep family ties to the east coast, was too much to walk away from.
