T'was a busy breaking news morning in the DMV as the Capitals announced that head coach Todd Reardon has been relieved of his duties.

This news comes just three days after the Capp's early first round playoff exit and embarrassing defeat in just five games against Barry Trots' New York Islanders.

This was news that was certainly expected at some point. I'll say it was announced probably sooner than I

expected, but we all had a feeling this was coming, Joby. Jordan, I'm in a difficult position here

on this topic for a number of reasons, but I completely understand when you say you could see this coming.

This was an anticipated move, whether or not it happened quicker than we expected we can debate.

I'm always going to be, and for right or wrong, please, we can debate this too.

I'm always on the side of the coaches who are being let go here,

who were when they were hired,

they were greatly thought of as incredibly good, strong hockey men,

and who I'm sorry didn't lose their way in two years.

It's not like they forgot how to coach.

And I just don't think players get enough of the blame for these situations. I have to work obviously in close quarters with

both coaches and players, so I'm going to temper my words here. But I feel badly on a day like today

because it wasn't all the coach's fault.

That's all I'm saying. And I'm not saying that the organization is saying that, but the axe

falls on the coach immediately. And there are times where I just feel badly that there's a very good

hockey man with a great family who's lost a good opportunity.

And yes, he's being well compensated for the opportunity. And this is part of the business.

But on days like today, I feel more for Todd Reardon than I do for the organization or the players.

Is that understandable?

1,000 percent. It's brutal. And it's kind of like you can't mix business and personal at this level.
