Hey folks I'm Scott Weingart and this is the M-Crit podcast.

Today on the podcast something I am incredibly excited about.

There is a new trial that has been under embargo,

but I was lucky enough to have early access to it that has really validated things I have

been saying for the past 15 years since the very beginning of Emkrit and it is the pre-oxy trial and if you were listening to this right now

it means the embargo has been lifted and I could finally talk about the results

and this trial was really superb.

I think it is a practice changing paper.

And what happened is the Prag pragmatic critical care research group wanted to look at

non-invasive positive pressure ventilation pre-oxyination versus standard

pre-oxygenation versus standard pre-oxygenation.

And we're going to discuss that trial

in the course of this podcast.

I'm going to really go through the trial and its results,

and then I'm going to talk to the lead authors Kevin Gibbs and Adit

Gindy about their feelings about the paper and they will simultaneously be in

Ireland at the Critical Care Reviews Conference debuting their work and then I'll talk about some of my recommendations based on all of my accumulated thoughts on pre-oxygenation and how this paper ties into them.
