My guest today is Alex Rodriguez, CEO of Embark Trucks.

But first, it was a busy week on the Robotaxi front with Waymo announcing the start of driverless service with its Jaguar

I paces in San Francisco and an expansion of its existing service in Metro Phoenix with operations now starting limited to employees for

now but but starting in downtown and I kind of feel like that last bit is big

when I went to visit Waymo last October and Chandler, one of my key questions was wondering

when they were going to expand beyond that initial 50 square mile service area that's just in the suburbs and start going to the airport, start

going to Arizona State University and start going to downtown in the

fifth largest city in America. So at least one of those seems to have a answer on the near-term

horizon. Careful observers this week on Twitter also spotted cruise vehicles on

the road in suburban Phoenix.

So on the Robotaxi front,

we have Weymo and Cruz setting up early battles

with each other in San Francisco and perhaps Phoenix now.

And Robotaxies taxis which were in the trough of

disillusionment for a while are perhaps heating back up. Already hot of course

are our self-driving trucks. There's been a crush of interest over the

last year, two years, especially with the existing driver shortage, the supply chain

crunch and it's obviously a familiar subject here on the podcast.
