Summary

First proper episode of the New Year and there's plenty to react to. Legitimate calls for an inquiry into rape gangs alongside Elon taking a 'keen interest' in UK politics and straying outside the boundaries of truth. Ian Stone joins me to discuss all this, plus we ask whether Labour's social care plan can be taken at face value (but ended up making childish jokes). What most people think. Hello and welcome to what most people think on this first proper week of January

0:19.0

2025. And I just got to say straight out of gate, big thanks to my guest today. He's jumped in at the last minute. It was going to be Simon Evans, but he was caught in some sort of weather, probably something that the Daily Express would call whether Armageddon or weather reckoning or something like that. And they've probably been talking about it for three weeks. So Ian Stone, first up, welcome to the show, and thanks for stepping in.

0:39.8

Hey, happy new year.

0:41.2

All right, what is it, the 6th of January?

0:42.8

We're allowed to say that, aren't we?

0:44.2

What's the ruling?

0:45.2

I think it's okay for a couple more days.

0:47.8

I think saying happy Christmas is already illegal.

0:50.7

Well, happy new year for the next couple of days and then let's leave it after that. Yeah. Although there are a lot of people that are just, I'm just easing my way back to work. Fucking slackers, mate, everywhere in this country. That's why I think Keynes Starver's next big project should be. Instead of scroungers, let's go after the slackers. Yeah, I think what the Labour party you've got to do is they've got to take on the working from home people.

1:13.9

Because without any real obvious science, how we get our economy going,

1:17.2

it's only really sandwiches, I think, that can get our economy going.

1:21.5

If we start selling more sandwich, the sandwich bounce, the sandwich bubble,

1:25.0

the sandwich boom of the mid-2020s.

1:25.9

I don't eat sandwiches.

1:28.2

I have steak delivered directly to my desk.

1:32.5

And do you eat it from your desk while making eye contact uncomfortably with people?

1:37.4

That's a very leading question, to be honest with you.

1:38.7

But yes, I do.

1:44.7

Now, it's, can I just say at this point that, you know, I am working from home right now.

1:49.3

But, you know, that you didn't really have an office specified, so I thought I could do it from here. I'm actually weirdly in an office for something that I could easily have been doing from home.

1:53.7

That's how much against I am, the slacker mentality.

1:57.3

And just a quick one, you know, this weird point of the year?
