This is really exciting for me.

Ellen Barkin is going to be here soon. I first saw Ellen Barkin in the movie

Diner. I think I was in 10th grade. I've talked about diner a lot on this podcast.

It was absolutely one of the movies that influenced me the most in terms of becoming a screenwriter in terms of the way

I saw the possibility of friends interacting over a long period of time, the jokes in that movie, the

way those guys related to each other, and the way that they dealt with the women in their lives and the way Shrivie dealt with

Beth, Ellen's character in particular, was like endlessly fascinating to me and has remained so since the movie came out in 1982.

Since then of course Ellen Barkin became an enormously successful movie star.

She's one of the finest actresses that we have.

She's an incredibly brilliant woman, a businesswoman.

She has directed her own career, I think largely, they'll talk to her about it,

made her own choices, she's a producer as well, and getting to work with her on Oceans 13, the day that she walked onto that set,

I turned to David Levine, my writing directing partner and, you know, lifelong best friend friend we grew up watching that movie

and quoting it together and we just cracked up that we'd actually we'd

actually written a movie that Alan Barkin was in. She's one of the funniest people I know.

She is one of the least full of crap people I've ever met in my life which in Hollywood really sets her

apart and I so looking forward I so looking forward well I'm looking forward to being able to speak I'm so looking forward, well I'm looking forward to being able to speak. I'm so looking forward to sharing this conversation we're about to have with you and to getting to talk to her in a few minutes.
