So welcome to our Rosary meditation.

We are on our way to Mount Carmel, where Elijah, the first of the prophets lived.

Elijah confronted the political leaders and the false prophets of his time.

The last prophecy in the Old Testament refers to ultimately John the Baptist who would come in the spirit and the power of Elijah.

John is very important for our time, especially for this next 18 months heading into the election

cycle.

John was beheaded at the request of Herod because John would not be silent in the face of evil.

John told King Herod it was wrong for him to have divorced his wife and taken the wife of his brother Philip.

John made it clear that adultery was gravely wrong.

For bearing witness to the truth of Christ.

John was imprisoned and beheaded.

And his disciples carried his body to Sebastian,

where we honored his tomb.

We honor the martyrdom of John and ask his intercession that we may be like

Cost what it may. The first moral principle is to do good and avoid evil.

The problem today is that people do not know what is good and what is evil.

Something is good for me if it helps me achieve my purpose.

God created us to share his divine life and become saints and great saints at that.

And we achieve our purpose and reach our full potential by doing the will of God,
