I'm Mick Garris and this is post-mortem. Well, we are deep into the holiday

season, so there's no time like the present to talk a bit about holiday horror. Every year the

holiday season delights in welcoming new terror into what is primarily overloaded with kids and family

movies. There's something wonderfully transgressive about

blood-soaked entertainment leaking all over sweet stories about Santa and reindeer and the joys of

family. There are tons of Christmas movies, Violent Night, Black Christmas, Rare Exports,

Silent Night, Deadly Night,

dozens more. Of course, Halloween is ground zero for holiday horror movies, Halloween,

Trick or Treat, Tales of Halloween, and Myriad Others. I've even contributed to the genre as well

as the primary writer of Hocus Pocus, my adaptation of Stephen King's writing The Bullet, which is set

on Halloween, and I even directed an episode of Once Upon a Time, which takes place on Halloween.

You've got your Valentine's Day, your Friday the 13th, your Independence Days, your New Year's

days. We even set Critters 2 on Easter. But what about poor lonely Thanksgiving?

Sorrowly neglected, despite the horrors trained upon the poor hapless turkeys every November.
