Hey there, it's been a while. Did you miss me? Since the last time you heard from me, a lot has happened at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, but somehow not much has changed. There are still deputy gangs doing their dirt, hurting and killing people with impunity. We have a new sheriff, but he's still fighting subpoenas.

And the Civilian Oversight Commission is doing its best to monitor all of this in spite of

two prominent members being forced out. And in just a few days, we're having another election

for Sheriff of Los Angeles County. I read a lot of the news about the Sheriff's Department,

but I have not seen much coverage of the candidates,

so I decided I would do it.

I'm going to be sitting down with all nine of the candidates

ahead of the June 2nd primary,

so voters have a chance to get to know them and their platform.

There are several folks we haven't met yet throwing their hat into the ring,

and some familiar faces too.

Our first guest, you probably already recognize.

Alex Villanueva is hosting a candidate meet and greet with the Pico Rivera Neighbors Group.

Now I've reached out to every candidate for sheriff and I've heard from everyone except for Alex Villanueva.

I don't know if that's personal or what, but I'm going to try to get a question about his candidacy at this event so all of you can know more about his platform and why he's running again after being placed on a county do not hire list.

So they won't let me in. I have been denied entry. I'm going to wait out here and see if maybe I can get

two hours and I did not get a chance to speak to Alex Villanueva. So unfortunately, I don't have any updates for you on his platform or why he's running or how he plans to take office with a do not hire order.
