Hello from CNN, I'm Jo Beck, with the five things you need to know for Wednesday,

April 2nd. After a record-breaking contest, Wisconsin voters have chosen a liberal judge for their

state Supreme Court. Susan Crawford beat conservative Brad Schimel, winning a 10-year term and

retaining the 4-3 liberal majority.

Wisconsin is bitterly divided between a Democratic governor and Republican legislature,

and the court often acts as a tiebreaker. More money was spent on the race than any other

judicial contest in U.S. history. Elon Musk had been campaigning hard and spending big for Schimel, which Crawford mentioned

in her victory speech.

As a little girl growing up in Chippewa Falls, I never could have imagined that I'd be

taking on the richest man in the world for justice in Wisconsin. And we won. Meanwhile, voters in Florida

picked Republicans Jimmy Petronis and Randy Fine to replace two other GOP representatives who stood

down, helping the party hang on to its slim majority in the House.

But there appear to be some warning signs, as early vote counts show Democrats in both races

got a much higher percentage than they did in the same areas in November.

President Donald Trump says he'll transform global trade today, as he's set to announce sweeping new tariffs.

The president wants to ensure that all Americans make out well.

That was White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt, who says the tariffs will come into effect

immediately. But it's still not clear what they'll actually look like, and even senior

members of Trump's party don't know what

will be included, like Senate Majority Leader John Thune.

I think all of us are anxious to see and will wait to see what the president actually

comes out with.
