Tuesday was another big day in the United States, Election Day.

Voters across the country cast their

ballots for local government officials, and there were some pretty intense races this year.

Like, in Virginia, Republican lieutenant governor winsome Earl Sears faced off against former

nominated for governor, and now Virginia voters elected Spanberger, their first ever female

governor. In California, voters weighed in on Proposition 50, which would temporarily bypass the state's

independent redistricting commission.

The measure did pass, potentially creating five more Democratic-leaning districts to

counterbalance new right-leaning ones in Texas.
