Summary

What did you used to want to learn, make, or finish? Guitar. Spanish. Salsa. The novel you've been starting for a decade. We all carry an invisible list: the skills we wish we'd learned, the talents we wish we'd developed, and the dreams we meant to pursue. Most of us file that list away, telling ourselves we'll get back to it someday. Most of us never do. In this episode, Ravi Gupta shares the framework behind his new book, The Invisible List, why he believes it's never too late to start, and how you can pre-order the book and begin reclaiming the dreams you've deferred. ––––––––– To Pre-Order The Invisible List: Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Invisible-List-Passion-Year-Every/dp/0593980859/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2TKS6Y9B9VBMT&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.5LDAYpIV1QkF6qGXMXrOoA.RwdEWCV1lydW_PuYCdxwhLCv2L61Iu1CcRT9HDQXAxQ&dib_tag=se&keywords=ravi+gupta+invisible+list&qid=1780260764&sprefix=%2Caps%2C163&sr=8-1 Local: https://bookshop.org/p/books/the-invisible-list-a-guide-to-conquering-deferred-dreams-ravi-gupta/cc0da5aa0e8c5bb9?ean=9780593980859&next=t Book website:Β  https://readinvisiblelist.com/ Email pre-order receipts to: lauren@orangeboatmedia.com ––––––––– Leave us a voicemail with your thoughts on the show! 201-305-0084 Subscribe to our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@LostDebate Follow Ravi at @RaviMGupta Notes from this episode are also available on Substack: https://thelostdebate.substack.com/ Read more from Ravi on Substack: https://realravigupta.substack.comΒ  Follow The Branch at @thebranchmedia Listen to more episodes of Lost Debate on Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-lost-debate/id1591300785 Listen to more episodes of Lost Debate on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/7xR9pch9DrQDiZfGB5oF0F Listen to Where the Schools Went: https://thebranchmedia.org/show/where-the-schools-went/

Hello, everybody. This is Ravi Gupta, and today my next book goes on pre-sale.

0:07.1

It's called The Invisible List. And it actually doesn't come out until September 22nd,

0:11.6

but if you listen on, you'll find out how you can get the content earlier and how you could

0:15.8

join a community built around the book's ideas. And as a starter, you could pre-order the book

0:20.7

on Amazon or your

0:21.8

local bookstore just by searching the invisible list or by clicking in the show notes on a

0:27.6

couple of links that we put at the top. And to take a step back, the invisible list is part

0:32.5

memoir, part how to for anyone who carries a private list of things that you wish you'd learned, tried,

0:39.5

made, or finished someday. What's on your list? Maybe guitar, Spanish salsa, maybe there's a novel

0:45.3

you've been starting for a decade. Most of us file that list away as a relic of a younger,

0:50.2

more adventurous self. We tell ourselves that we'll get back to it, but most of us never

0:54.8

do. And each year, the list grows and a version of you who could still tackle it drifts a little

1:00.0

further off. And the invisible list is a system for breaking that cycle. One new passion a year,

1:06.4

every year. And I've been at it since 2018. At that point, I just left running schools in the South,

1:12.4

and I decided to treat myself as my only student in each year as a school year for me. And the book

1:19.5

is the record of how I took on one new pursuit a year and how each of those years became a

1:25.0

template anyone could follow. So one year was what I call the launch pad year.

1:29.7

This is a year where you tackle a foundational skill that gets you in shape for the harder

1:34.2

years to come.

1:35.4

For me, that was powerlifting.

1:37.4

Another year was what I call an anywhere anytime year.

1:40.7

This is something accessible, affordable, and practical that you can do anywhere and sneak
