Last night, eight Democratic senators, some of them for the second time in six months,

betrayed their party and the American people.

As the Associated Press reports, the Senate advanced an initial vote to end the government shutdown,

and this vote approves a bipartisan deal to reopen government agencies and address spending bills,

but it leaves out the main

issue Democrats were fighting for, the issue that led us to this government shutdown in the first

place. In other words, I'll cut right to the chase here. In exchange for opening the government on Republicans' terms,

the Democrats got nothing. This agreement took shape after eight Democrats signed on

without a guaranteed extension of Affordable Care Act tax credits that expire on January 1st.

These senators gave in to Donald. They gave in to the fascist Republican Party,

and I ask them this. For what? It amounts to what is essentially a total surrender to the Trump

regime and its cruel agenda. Publicly, the worthless Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer expressed

disapproval of this development, to which I say bullshit. There is no way this happened without

Chuck Schumer's behind the scenes encouragement. Let's take a look at Schumer's remarks on the Senate floor and see what we think about them.

I must vote no.

This health care crisis is so severe, so urgent, so devastating for families back home that I cannot in good faith support this CR that it fails, that fails to address the health care crisis.

Sure, but there's evidence to suggest that Schumer worked behind the scenes to secure this agreement and end the shutdown.

The reason he isn't taking credit for it is because he knows how bad he looked in March when he and nine other Democrats, all of the Democratic leadership, sided with Republicans to pass the devastating appropriations bill.

And look where that led us.
