Mary's guided meditation has the theme of effortlessness.

True meditation is effortless.

When we're in a meditative state, we are without effort.

We can't try to be effortless.

The problem is when we sit to meditate, we feel that there's something that we're trying

to achieve, there's some right way to do it or wrong way to do it, right experience

to have, wrong experience to have, so it'll be best to just let go of the goal of effortlessness

and just assume that in this meditation, effortlessness will happen, it's a happening.

Trying an effort will naturally arise, that doesn't matter, we'll just easily let

go of the effort.

Now find a position that's comfortable and close your eyes.

What happens when you close your eyes?

What's naturally things start to settle down?

All sorts of experiences are happening, thoughts are coming and going in the mind, feelings

are present, you hear noises, there's sensations in the body, did you notice that all of

this is happening effortlessly?

Thoughts come into the mind without effort, just let them go the way they come effortlessly,

spontaneously.

Any time you notice any kind of trying during this meditation, just let it go, perhaps

you'll notice yourself trying to have some kind of experience, perhaps you'll notice
