Tell me about note-taking and documentation and the difference between taking notes.

You know, next week I had a mean this week, next week I finally

sit down and take the notes versus contemporaneous note taking.

That's a big word you just use.

What's that?

Yeah, I don't know. That's why I'm know that's not in the show notes I said it

that sounded like chupacabra contemporaneous yeah and you know what you know what's

funny about it as I just realize how obvious it is managers as note takers for performance reporting has been completely

infected, killed, dead, and re-born as a chupacabra because we say documentation and contemporaneous, right?

Both of which are legal words, as if managers should sit around every day worried about being

in court someday. Contemporaneous is just a legal word that means happens about the same time.

We don't recommend not taking notes in front of your directs.

In other words, we recommend taking notes right in front of your directs.

You don't have to apologize for or

hide what you're doing. We're doing our jobs. The direct who takes offense is

taking the fins at a false impression of what we're doing and why we're doing it.

Guys, as managers, if we're doing the right thing, we're not responsible for every possible

response to our behaviors, particularly when our motives aren't just reasonable, they're admirable.

And yeah, it's admirable to document effectively someone's good or poor performance.
