0:25.1	This is James Lindsay and we're going to talk, we're going to kind of start a lot
0:29.9	of podcasts. I think we'll see how this goes. But I'm intending to do a lot of
0:34.7	podcasts on what is known as the critical turn in education. And so just to
0:41.8	kind of lay out my intentions, you know, I'm pretty widely considered to be
0:47.1	kind of a go-to guy on critical race theory now. I'm frankly a bit bored with
0:52.7	critical race theory. I think I've said what needs to be said about it. But my goal
0:59.2	with doing this podcast series on the critical turn in education, which I'll
1:03.4	kind of elaborate on as we get going further, is not to become the go-to guy on
1:10.3	critical pedagogy and what's happened in education. Happy to help people with that. But my goal
1:16.4	is actually to offer the ground level information people need to understand the theory behind where
1:24.2	and how the critical theory shift in education has occurred. It's an older and longer story
1:30.3	than people realize. But I'm going to, you know, I've used the metaphor when I've discussed this
1:36.2	kind of series that I'm thinking of doing here. I've discussed this. I've used the metaphor
1:40.7	of the Pluto fly by, if you recall, when we sent that spacecraft by Pluto. It didn't stop.
1:47.2	It didn't even go into orbit around Pluto, right? It's shot right by, took some great pictures.
1:53.2	Gave everybody a lot of new insight about what Pluto is like and what it looks like.
1:58.3	And then it just kept going. And that's sort of my intention. I don't think I'm going to get
2:03.7	pulled into the gravitational pull of the critical pedagogy movement. There are a lot of people.
2:10.3	This is really a parents fight. There are a lot of people involved in this already who are
2:14.8	very, very effective. And I want to just offer them tools that will help them understand
2:21.1	what has happened to our education system. The fact that it has become quite literally
