podcast. I'm the host Scott Feinberg and today it is an incredibly rare and

special privilege to welcome as my guest Eddie Murphy, a living legend who

rarely speaks publicly and has never done a

podcast before. Murphy burst onto the scene in the early 80s as a Saturday Night Live

cast member who single-handedly saved the show and then became the biggest

star of stand-up and big-screen comedies in the world. For many years Murphy

could do no wrong. His blockbusters include 48 hours trading places, Beverly Hills Cop, coming to America, the Nutty Professor,

and Shrek.

And he also received a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for his terrific performance in the

movie Dreamgirls. Murphy was, in his own performance in the movie Dreamgirls.

Murphy was, in his own words, the first black actor to take charge in a white world on screen.

And he did so in humorous ways, which made him a favorite of people of all races.

In more recent years though he became an intensely private person.

He stopped doing stand-up and following a string of flops at the box office,

he stopped acting for nearly five years.
