Among similarly qualified faculty, women who never married earn higher incomes than men who never married.

What does that mean? There were other complex factors at play. First of all, what is the preferences?

Like men and women aren't choosing, let's say, science, technology, engineering, medicine with equal frequency.

Whether you like it or not. And that's true, even the most egalitarian societies, even in Scandinavia,

the dimorphism or the difference between the choices goes up. That's point number one.

And point number two, because they have different life experiences, and we should not be ashamed.

We should be proud that women bear children. They may spend less time in the workforce,

have less time to build up their skills. This is a great thing. This is a specialization in the

division of labor. But again, a very naive statistic is like, wait a minute, why are the men being

paid more than the women? Well, it turns out it has nothing to do with gender. And if you take

marriage and children out of the equation, women get paid more than men. Right. I mean, this is

awesome. This is so cool. And it means, you know, the sad thing and why

Marxists don't like these conclusions is that it means we don't live in a dastardly evil society

dominated by by evil people who are wringing the system. And the problem, the reason people

fear that conclusion is it means that they're responsible for themselves. And they actually can.

There are a lot of people who are most intimidated by the idea that they can control their own destiny to some extent.
