| 0:00.0 | Welcome to the Eat This Not That Podcast. I'm John Hammond, and this is Megan Murphy. |
| 0:07.1 | Hi, everyone. And this episode is a bit fishy. It's really fishy, actually. We are highlighting |
| 0:13.3 | some of the reasons why you should be adding more fish to your diet. I love fish. I'm super |
| 0:18.5 | excited for this episode. I understand, though, that fish can be sort of a love it or hate it type of food for some people. I don't know if they're pescatarian. They love it. A lot of people maybe don't know how to cook fish properly. |
| 0:32.0 | That's a hang up. I was a hang up for me for a long time. It was one of those things that I just never, I can never figure out, |
| 0:39.2 | never wanted to figure out, I guess, enough to try, but I always thought it was probably harder |
| 0:43.4 | than it actually is, but it's super simple for the most part. It's super simple. And also like, |
| 0:46.6 | where is your supply? Like now, I think more than ever with the whole foods and so many of these, |
| 0:52.2 | you know, fish markets popping up and different grocers carrying |
| 0:56.1 | a great variety. Cooking fish at home is easier than ever. And there's also, obviously, when you |
| 1:02.2 | go out to eat, just there's so many options out there. I cook fish at home all the time, |
| 1:06.9 | and it's definitely like my go-to when I go out to a restaurant. Oven? You just oven, bake it straight up? Usually, I mean, sometimes I do a nice sear in the pan, get the pan real hot, sear it up and then finish it in the oven, or, you know, now it's starting to be grill and season in the Northeast. That's where I started with the grill. But I would just like a halibut filet in a foil pack almost. so it's probably almost like baking it. It's not really grilling it, I guess at that point. But it just, I guess for me, the grill kind of took a lot of the fear factor out of it because to me the grill is pretty easy. It's easy to screw up to, I guess, because it's so easy. But it worked, you know, the first couple of times. It was a good introduction for me and Natalie. |
| 1:46.1 | Like, I'm not as picky as eater. |
| 1:47.6 | Natalie has a little more, you know, she's a little more suspect of some, some newer foods and fish is one of those things. But, you know, halibut was a good start, a good introduction. I haven't gotten her to salmon yet, which is, which is kind of baby steps, of course. |
| 2:01.9 | You know, but scallops is another good one, stuff like that. |
| 2:04.0 | And, and like that. And, you know, I enjoy fish. I try to always eat it when I'm out when somebody else is cooking it, especially, because that takes the mystery out of it. And I'm trying to get more of it in my diet because there are are we're learning so much more about the health |
| 2:18.2 | benefits I guess and that's what we're going to get into here today because there are a litany |
| 2:22.3 | of health benefits from from fish and all kinds of fish it doesn't matter like for me it's it's |
| 2:26.8 | mostly salmon probably I eat salmon the most as well so but but there's there's a ton so whether |
| 2:31.9 | you love it or hate it you know maybe you kind of like it there's no denying that there are a ton. So whether you love it or hate it, you know, maybe you kind of like it. |
| 2:34.7 | There's no denying that there are a ton of health benefits and you should probably be adding more to your diet if you're if you're cool with fish. If you're down with fish, like you're going to, after hearing this, you're going to want to, you're going to want to get more of it into your daily diet. Because fish is, it's one of the most beneficial protein sources. And everyone, we're all so protein obsessed right now anyway. |
| 2:52.5 | So it's like, this is a great place to start. |
