| 0:00.0 | Everything got so much lighter and the first thing I noticed was my relationship my kids relationships with each other like it was like less over simulation less toys more play, |
| 0:12.1 | which is like that paradox and it was so so cool to see and the second thing I noticed was my relationship with myself I felt lighter I felt freer I felt like I had done something to take care of myself and give myself space. |
| 0:27.1 | And then out of that my relationship shifted with my husband because I wasn't stretched so thin I wasn't demanding so much of myself and purposely creating an environment that was demanding so much of me. |
| 0:42.1 | You're listening to She with Jordan Lee Dooley, a personal development podcast for the everyday woman come invited leave ignited. Here's your host Jordan Lee Dooley. |
| 0:57.1 | Hey, Ali, welcome back to she. |
| 1:07.1 | Hi, thank you so much. It's so fun. I like doing second interviews because it's like we're just vibing more and it's kind of like very touched on like the intro basics. |
| 1:19.1 | It's true you guys if you are a new listener to the show or if you didn't catch the first episode that Ali did with me, I think it was like one of the first 20 episodes of the show it was all about. |
| 1:31.1 | Yeah, cluttering and simplifying your life and we're going to dive into that a little bit more today and just take it to the next level I'm really excited. |
| 1:37.1 | But for those who may have not heard that first episode or you know, just don't know who you are can you just give us a quick rundown of who you are and why you you know, I know you spend a lot of time talking about simplifying and minimalism and you've shared a lot about how you felt completely depleted as a mom constantly spending time doing dishes laundry cleaning all the things. |
| 1:55.1 | So can you tell us about that time in your life and how that led you to really focus on minimalism. |
| 2:00.1 | Yeah, for sure. So my whole business and everything that I do online for women comes from my own struggle and at the time of my life where all of this really began it was like nine years ago I had four kids now I had three little babies toddlers at the time. |
| 2:18.1 | And so like minimalism wasn't really a thing like there weren't like books and documentaries and like a trend like there was none of that. So I didn't I guess it just is such a gift that we have that now because it's like really trendy and everyone knows about it has at least tried it. |
| 2:32.1 | And I feel like it's good because people need people needs to put me but they just need like different methods to like grab onto what works for them and like have at it. |
| 2:41.1 | But for me like I just it was at this time in my life where it was so overwhelming already and I was like absolutely depressed. |
| 2:49.1 | I woke up every morning just feeling like I'm I'm so with dread and I'm tired and I haven't even like put my feet on the ground yet like this is not good. |
| 2:57.1 | And like in this season two where it was like this is what I wanted like I wanted to I've known my husband since like junior high like I knew I wanted to marry him. |
| 3:06.1 | I wanted to have kids with him and live this life but I was so detached from my true self. I was running all day every day and like just really struggling. |
| 3:18.1 | And so I had this moment where on a really bad day where I just was like you know what I am seeing myself almost from like an aerial perspective today and all I am doing is reacting. |
| 3:30.1 | I'm reacting to my life reacting to the mess reacting to my house reacting to my mood reacting to the kids like reacting at them like I'm not the mom I want to be I don't even know who I am as a woman anymore. |
| 3:43.1 | And that is so stereotypical mom life too which we can talk about because it really that is like my passion to just dismantle that whole thing. |
| 3:53.1 | But I was I was stuck in that cycle and I was being told by like women everywhere like friends family women in the church like at all around me that this is it like yeah it's like so hard but you'll just like get for a way and then like you know just wait till their teenagers like it gets even harder but you know just like car pay all the DMs because it goes by so fast like just this like and fixing mess. |
| 4:19.1 | Yeah like it's hopeless so I really I was getting all that messaging and saw myself reacting to my life instead of living it and cleaning up after it instead of living it. |
