Hello and welcome to Bible Stories. We are your hosts, Matt Mullins. Hello. My name is Todd

Hamons and we're two ministers slash buds who love telling the stories of the Bible and it is

Easter week. Some people may call it holy week or passion week. Whatever you call it today is

Wednesday and we want to catch you up in the life of Jesus and what was happening on this day

2,000 plus years ago. That's right and Wednesday is relatively calm. It's a relatively quiet day

compared to what's been happening earlier in the week. Jesus goes into the temple early in the

morning and is once again met by crowds and interested people. People are curious and these

folks are hanging on every word as Jesus teaches about the kingdom of God. The masses they arrive

early in the morning. It's kind of like for a parade. You want to get a good seat so you get

there early because people don't want to hear what Jesus is saying. Meanwhile the chief priests,

the elders and the scribes, they also are gathering but they're gathering together in the home of

the high priest Caiaphas. It's in this palace that they plot to kill Jesus and as they coldly

discuss how to go about it they decide that they have to do it quietly because if not they were

on the risk of running afoul of the tons of people who love Jesus. Well they decide to wait until

after the feast of unleavened bread and that's about eight days from this day, Wednesday. By then

all the pilgrims who have populated Jerusalem. Remember right now Jerusalem is a happening place

because all these folks are here for Passover. Let's let those people leave. Let's let things cool

down and once the crowds have exited this city it would be much simpler for these folks to

rest and to kill Jesus. So they they agree on the plan and they conclude their meeting and they

wait with murderous intent. Todd this day reminds me although we don't have a ton of action it reminds

me to question myself and just reflect as to motives. You know the religious leaders they were

determined to maintain their power and because of that they were ready to take horrific steps.
