Hello and welcome to Bible stories. It is Easter Week. I'm here with my co-host and best buddy Todd

Heyman's. We are looking at Easter Thursday. The Thursday before Easter, sometimes called Monday

Thursday. Todd, a lot happens on Thursday. Absolutely, Mondi Thursday. You're right. So why do

people call it Mondi Thursday? And I'm going to be honest, Matt, growing up, we didn't really call

that. I kind of grew up in a Baptist culture, and it was just kind of Easter week or Holy Week

or Passion Week. But Mondi comes from a Latin term that essentially means command,

and it's referring to Jesus' last commandments to his disciples.

Like we know that this is really the last full day that he's spending with his disciples,

and man, he is just giving the command to love one another and all those things.

So that's really where

Mondi comes from. Maybe you didn't know, maybe you knew, now you know. But hey, a lot of different

things happened today. And I just want to run through some of them and then camp out really with

Jesus and the disciples as they head into the Garden of Gethsemini.

But here's what happened on the day of Thursday.

Jesus instructs his disciples, Peter and John, to secure a large upper room in a house

in Jerusalem to prepare for the Passover meal.

So that would have been that morning, that Thursday morning.

And then in the evening, Jesus eats the Passover meal with the 12, and he tells them of the coming betrayal and institutes the Lord's Supper. We'll chat about that in a little bit. During supper, Jesus also washes the disciples' feet, and he interacts with them, and he delivers the upper room discourse so this

is kind of like a teaching right and then jesus and the disciples sing a hymn together so i love that

they're they're worshiping they're singing together and then they depart for the mount of olives

jesus predicts peter's denials um so he calls Peter out. And then Jesus issues a final

practical command about supplies and some provisions. And then lastly, Jesus and the disciples go

...
