Hello and welcome. This is a special series on the Passion Week. This is the week leading up to Easter Sunday and today we want to give you a snippet of what happened on that Easter Sunday in the lives of Jesus and those around him.

We are Todd and Matt, and this is Bible stories.

Sunday.

It's early in the morning.

Mary Magdalene and the other Mary,

that's Jesus Mother, are up and filled with both anticipation

but also anxiety.

Perhaps others have given lots of doubt that Jesus was dead and never coming back.

But Jesus' mother believed his words and knew her son best.

They leave the house and begin their journey

to the tomb where Jesus was laid just a few days before.

When they arrived, they found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance.

So they went in, but they did not find Jesus's body.

They stood there puzzled and then all of a sudden two men appeared to them,

clothed in shiny bright robes.

Both Mary's were terrified and they hid their face.

And then one of the men asked,

Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive?

Jesus isn't here. He is risen from the dead. Remember what he said? He said that the

son of man would be betrayed and handed over to sinful men and be crucified, but

that he would arise again on the third day.

They remembered this and were overwhelmed and overjoyed with excitement.
