As we continue to remember Holy Week, we remember the last week of Jesus' life while he was

here on earth. After Jesus rode into the city of Jerusalem on a cult, he spent some of his last

days preparing his followers for what was to come. Jesus knew it would be scary for them,

and he knew some of them would be afraid. He wanted to reassure them that in the end, everything

would be okay.

You see, Jesus knew the end of the story.

He knew he would not stay in the grave.

He knew that beyond his suffering, there would be a great victory.

The Israelites were looking for a king, just like King David or King Solomon, who would conquer their enemy the Romans

and establish his throne in Jerusalem. They wanted to go back to the good old days of Solomon

when they were a great nation with wealth and peace. They were hoping Jesus would be this kind of king.

But this was not what Jesus came to earth to do.

Sure, he is strong and mighty and great and powerful.

And he is also gentle and humble and serving.

And he had a much bigger mission in mind.
