Good morning, my friends.

Get afternoon, good evening, whatever time of day it is for you.

Welcome to the morning mindset.

This is our opportunity to get our minds aligned for the next 24-hour period, for the time

that is ahead for us, because we don't know what's coming, but our God does.

And aligning ourselves with His thoughts will enable us to live those 24 hours in a way

that brings Him glory and brings about good for His people.

Let's dive in, we are in Acts chapter 12, we're looking at verses 1 through 5.

Now this is a history of what happened in the early church, the early group of people

who had faith in Jesus Christ after His resurrection.

And we read here, it says about that time Herod the King laid violent hands on some people

who belonged to the church.

He killed James the brother of John with the sword, and when he saw that it pleased the Jews,

he proceeded to arrest Peter also.

This was during the days of unleavened bread, and when he had seized him he put him in prison,

delivering him over to four squads of soldiers to guard him, intending after the Passover

to bring him out to the people.

So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church.

Now this sounds like a pretty scary situation.

The authorities in power are coming directly against believers in Jesus Christ.

Now you may recognize that name Herod.

Herod was one of the rulers during the time of Jesus.
