Hello there I'm Chuck Todd and this is the Chuck Todd cast so this midterm election isn't

just important for its own sake.

It's the first so-called normal election since the pandemic, we're going to put normal

with a lot of quote marks around it.

And there's a lot we really don't know about what the election itself could look like

actually in the administration of.

And of course elections haven't just changed because of COVID.

It can test a 2020 election in the January 6th riot.

It made us questions about basic assumptions about how much Americans really trust elections

and some states made some changes in response to some of these conspiracy theories too which

will only add to the perhaps the either distrust or concern about how everything is going

to go on election day.

So my guest today is Michael McDonald.

He is the author of from pandemic to insurrection voting in the 2020 US presidential election.

He's also a professor of political science in the University of Florida and he's basically

always been our go-to guy when it comes to sort of interpreting the early vote and what's

come in and how much vote is out there and he's just a wealth of knowledge on the election

system in our voting system.
