Summary

The founding of America was deeply rooted in spiritual and religious convictions. The early American leaders saw their mission as a sacred covenant with God. They firmly believed they were carrying out a divine purpose and calling as stated in quotes like "Thus stands the cause between God and us. We are entered into covenant with Him for this work." Establishing liberty and self-governance in America was not just a political project for the founders, but a holy undertaking blessed by Providence. The ideals enshrined in the nation's founding documents were seen as reflecting eternal, God-given truths about individual rights and freedoms.
