If you watch the WWF during the golden era, as we love to refer to it, the late 80s, the early 90s, the 90s, all the way into the new millennium, the third man you often saw in the ring is my guest this week on PTSD.

During his time with the WWF, WWE, he refereed some of the greatest matches of that era.

It was also a time when those wearing the black and white stripes were often a part of the action.

And I am very excited to welcome one of the most well-known referees in the history of professional wrestling,

Earl Hebner.

Thanks for coming on prime time.

Good.

Well, thank you for having me.

Hey, I want to start this out with just a question that, you know, I've asked a few other

people that I've had on who, you know, were in the squared circle.

The third man is they like to refer to them but what does it take to be a great referee well it takes years of experience to learn

who you're working with and where they're going and and feeling them out and knowing what they want to do next

you memorize it like like we're going to Rick I work with Rick Flair so many years that his moves

and everything he didn't have to say a word I just knew where he was going and what he was going to do

yeah it's like dancing right exactly like dancing yeah and and another thing is they always

you know one of one of the best things uh you can do as as a referee is stay out of the way

and but that's a real art isn't it yes yes it is especially TVs I mean you work if the

TV if the camera's in front of you, you work the left, the right,

and the back rope.

And then then you have to work the hard camera rope, but then you know you're in the wrong
