| 2:23.9 | Check it out! Welcome to the Art of Coaching Podcast. I'm Brett Burtolamue and at a young age, poor communication nearly caused me my life. Now, I help others navigate the great area of social interaction, power dynamics, and communication so they can become more adaptable leaders regardless of their profession, age, or situation. This podcast is for everybody who is fascinated with solving people problems. So if you're the no nonsense type who appreciates frank conversations, advise you can put to use immediately and learning how others navigate the messy realities of leadership, you're in the right place. I'm glad that you're joining us. Let's dive in. All right, let's get into it. Thanks for joining me for another episode. All right, this is one that I think a lot of us can relate to in some way, shape or form. Grounding the episode is I usually do and pardon the change in my voice. I just got over. If you're a long time listener, you notice that we had a small hiatus. I've been dealing with some kind of upper respiratory slash bronchitis thing for a while. So I'm aware I sound a little bit noisy or nasally rather. Please forgive that, but I want to get back to you guys and there's been a lot going on. So to be able to give you tips and stay consistent with everything so you guys can continue to grow. And also myself, because doing these podcasts is a great way to kind of create artifacts and a time capsule of things that I've dealt with professionally and continue to deal with that hopefully can bring value to you. She struggles with fully communicating the way she'd like to and being forthright because she fears repercussion. She very much respects her bosses and the people that she works with, |
| 4:45.5 | but she feels like she kind of just tones it down too much. And she was trying to put this into words, and I just said, hey, you know, I don't want to put words into your mouth, but I would like to know, would you consider yourself kind of a fear-based communicator? And she goes, well, I don't really know what that means. And I said, well, is it more that you feel like you're not saying the right thing or |
| 5:05.5 | don't know how to say the right thing? |
