Bridget, I'm doing great. Thank you. And it's just so lovely to see you again and be with you.

You as well. I'm really excited to talk to you. My first question is, how do we save the West?

How do we do it?

I think we have to get back and tether ourselves to reality. And I think there are many problems that the West faces. But the more you look at it, the more you think

we've just become so untethered from reality.

And maybe that's because of our wealth.

Yeah.

Maybe wealth just generates this.

It just gives you permission to pretend and make believe and drift away from reality.

But that's, in a short answer, is get tethered back to reality.

I did political philosophy, and so when I came to this country,

so when I came to the West in 1992,

my ideas, my conception of truth, of morality, of human dignity, of trust, all of that was

fully affirmed.

And it was all absolute.

I knew where the headlines were.

And then three years into my residence in the Netherlands,

I enrolled at the University of Leiden.

And I was impressed and confused that when I took introduction to political philosophy,

and the central academic question was,

what is truth?
