I'm so excited to talk to you. I've been a big fan of your work, actually, for quite some

time, so this is a little bit of like a fan girl moment where you, well, you actually seem like

somebody who still is interested in doing reporting just for the sake of reporting.

How, how, and now you've been all over the place. You've been at the New York Time. You've

written for all of kind of the major publications. And now you have a substack. And tell me how you

ended up kind of having your own substack, what it is. And then I really want to talk to you

about the detransitioner case that you covered that recently, we've had a lot of detransitioners on this

podcast. And so I'm really fascinated to hear all things about this case. Just to clarify, I contribute to the New York Times. I've never been on staff there. But I got interested in gender medicine. The monkey pox outbreak of 2022 took up all my time. And then after that, I was just kind of looking around. And at the first I wasn't thinking that this is my next subject. But I got really fascinated, for one thing, by the reaction, the harsh reaction by the activist core,

to what I thought were very circumspecting, fair articles in the New York Times,

and Reuters, New York Times Magazine, Atlantic, things like that.

And there was such a wide disparity between how these pieces were being savage

and the journalists would have all these ad hominem attacks thrown at them.

And what I was reading, which seemed very fair and necessary, just ordinary science reporting.

And so that really just got me interested that there's a there, if there's not much pushback.

You know, and kind of wanted being where the action is.

And just because of my own constitution or the way that I grew up and the pressures I was under in that formative years,

I'm pretty good at dealing with bullies

and with having people accuse me of things

and developing a strong sense of inner self and confidence

in the face of that. And it's not easy, but in a way,

I'm sort of attracted to that knowing that I could put up with it. And when I started reading about the subject
