You started your life in Egypt.

You go to church and you don't know if you're going to make it out.

And so at a very young age, I found myself asking the question, what is this religion? What am I dying for exactly? The whole reason David's important is because of Jesus. If the prophecy was not given to David, that from him will come the Messiah, David wouldn't be David. I'd torn my shoulders. I couldn't sling for all of season one. think that the guy who plays David could slain. There's been no

sex scenes. No. Which I think is awesome. It's also proof that sex

doesn't sell. 100%. People will still watch. People will show up to the theater for a good story.

0:29.3

Can you sing a little bit for us?

0:36.5

I was obsessed with The Chosen. My family said to me, you know, well, you're an actor, so who would you play

0:40.9

if you're on a show like that? I would love to play a young king David that would be a

0:44.3

dream country, maybe for a singer too. You started your life in Egypt and then at nine you came to the United States. What was that like?

0:56.2

Yeah, I moved, you know, my entire life overnight, and I didn't know English. So my mom put me in

1:02.5

school, and she said, sink or swim. And I was like, all right, in about three days, I was starting

1:08.9

to understand people. Three weeks, I was putting sentences together. And I remember, like, this kid, you know, I would be like, what is this? You know, and he'd go, necklace, and I'd go home and practice, necklace. And the next day, like, bracelet. Okay, bracelet. And then one day, as he was leaving, he said, all right, see ya. I was like, see

1:29.9

you. So I went home, practice, see ya, see ya, and I'm trying to like put it together. And

1:37.6

go back the next day, a t-shirt, okay, t-shirt. And he says, see ya, and I said, see ya. And he went along as if nothing happened. And I was like, yes. You know, and that's, that's kind of how I would learn. And then within about a year, I tested out of all my English second language classes and I was, I was fluent. What? Yeah. Took you one year to become fluent in English when you were nine years old.

2:01.8

Yeah.

2:02.1

I mean, it was, I was English is pretty easy.

2:04.6

So I just, you know, it's definitely not Arabic is tough.

2:09.1

You know, and all the letters are weird.

2:11.1

But English, yeah.

2:13.9

What was it like culturally to go from Egypt to? And where did you move to when you got to the U.S.?

2:20.3

Well, we moved around a bit, but, you know, we found home in California, and then I kind of moved all over the place. I went to New York, lived in Greece for a bit. But, yeah, I think California was home. But, you know, it was definitely a challenge because, you know, it's one thing to understand the language, but it's a whole other thing to understand the culture. And the culture is very different. So I found myself, like, as I was growing up, there was, you know, obviously a lot of bullying and, you know, kids, they see somebody, you know, it's, you know, they don't know

2:51.3

how to react.
