guest today is David Azerad who is with the Heritage Foundation and spends all of

his time studying politics of the left and politics the right and I

thought this might be a good time to get into the presidential race the big one on the Democratic side and whatever exists on the Republican side.

David, thanks for joining us here.

Thank you for having me, Byron.

Okay.

Now, you are known for studying identity politics and you've written about how identity politics can undermine sort of national identity or cohesiveness.

And clearly we see a lot of that in the Democratic primary right now.

I just want to go through, I'm looking at the real clear politics average of

polls right now the order is Joe Biden at 31.0 Bernie Sanders at 15.8, Elizabeth Warren, 15.5.

Kamala Harris way down at 8.3.

Pete Buda Judge at 5.5, Beta O'Rourke at 2.5, I believe a new poll of Iowa came out today where Beto O'Rourke is at zero.

Corey Booker at 2.3.

Andrew Yang at 1.5 just learned today that Andrew Yang has actually qualified for the next debate.

The one that's in Houston in September, they have to meet, the candidates have to meet a polling standard and a fundraising

standard have a certain number of donors and be above 2% in at least four recognized polls.

They can be their national polls or in one of the early states.

Anyway, I believe there's nine candidates so far

who have qualified, which means there are a lot of candidates who are going to be off the stage when we come to that debate.

So anyway, we have this, basically it's a race now.
