Hello and welcome to another edition of the Byron York show. This is the No Chit Chat

Podcast and we're getting right into it today with former senator Jem DeMint who joins us from South Carolina and the reason he joins us from South Carolina is because I am the only person in Washington DC at this moment.

Senator, thank you so much for joining us.

Yeah, there was a crowd yesterday leaving Washington,

so I'm sorry you didn't catch the train. I didn't get the memo. So listen we are we are speaking the day after the Democratic debates in Detroit wrapped up, night one and night two.

Night two is the bigger news because it has your former colleague, Biden and I just wondered what your thoughts were

on that debate.

I felt a little sorry for for Joe and anyone who was trying to make sense last night just kind of got bullied.

But it's really hard, darn for me to listen to it is someone who works on policy and I really do like to determine

how policies are going to work their way out and affect people long term and it's just really hard to listen to folks who act

like they are just giving away candy with none of the implications of what this could mean long term to our country.

So it didn't make a lot of sense to me, but it was someone entertaining to watch them go back and forth,

particularly when they started directly and

indirectly criticizing Barack Obama. That was pretty amazing. I mean that is

actually a lot of the commentary we're hearing now that people have had a chance to

digest this a little bit is that there was only one person there defending

Barack Obama who just happens to be the only Democrat to get elected president in the last 20 years.

And who, up until a minute and a half ago, was considered a model of progressive policy and the only guy who was defending him is his former

vice president Joe Biden who wouldn't have been on the stage were it not for

Barack Obama.

So it was just a kind of a bizarre dynamic going on there.

Yeah, Joe actually handled it fairly well.
