Lake Cumberland is a reservoir in Kentucky that was originally intended for flood prevention and for the creation of hydroelectric power.

However, with over 1,200 miles of shoreline, according to the Kentucky tourism site, it is, quote, one of the largest and most visited lakes in the eastern United States, and quote, And it is massive, spanning more than 65,000 acres across multiple Kentucky counties, including

Clinton, Pulaski, Russell, Wayne, and Laurel counties.

But beyond the beauty of the natural landscape, like so many places we cover on this show,

darkness and crime infiltrate, despite small, tight-knit communities, often being places where

families still visit each other after church on Sundays, still look forward to their county fairs

and festivals, and still know the names of half of the town.

Somehow those quaint qualities that I know I value so much about my hometown aren't strong enough

to keep evil out. In fact, our case this week focuses on a young man from the Lake Cumberland

area in Kentucky who went missing in 2022 around Independence Day,

either July 4th or July 5th. Despite his family searching for him from the moment they discovered

no one had heard from him, they are still searching for many of the same answers they had

over a year ago.

That's why it's up to us to listen, to share, and to help them apply pressure for those answers.
