Hey everybody welcome to this week in startups. I'm your host

Jason Calicanus. We do this podcast two or three times a week and have done so for

over ten years and over a thousand episodes. How crazy is that? We're

really excited about our next guest. His name is Cortland Allen and he runs a website called

Indie hackers.com and it's kind of a blast to the past a throwback of a site

when I came into the industry hackers, was a new term in the 90s and in the 80s actually,

into the 90s, there was even movies like hackers and there was hacking culture.

hacking culture, phone freaking culture basically meant you know you had a computer and you had some device and you wanted to see if you could just make it do something.

And sometimes you wanted to see if you could build something, sometimes you wanted to break something down,
