Summary

Alright, folks! Kevin Cheff The Retriever Coach is back for the second part of this mini series and if you thought part one was thorough, then you haven't seen anything yet. In this episode, Bob and Kevin Cheff discuss the fundamentals for creating a phenomenal dog and the drills used to get them there.... and stay there (that part is important). Here's a few topics they review: teaching multiple marks, wide open marks, developing confidence with memory, Kevin breaks down a training schedule for a Master level dog, we run through check down birds, the ABC Drill, live flyers and then we dig into water. Holy cow, do we dig into water. We review simple water marks (<100 yards) and then angle exit drills, Kevin explains the components of all water marks, cheating singles and teaching water blinds. Finally, review the four parts to one good "sit." Then we chat with Kevin and ask him some questions that our patreon friends had for him and we share books that you should read about dog training. We also have a pretty good chat about buying Started Dogs and what to look for and how to make that transition from the kennel to your house smooth. We owe Kevin a big thank you for joining our show and spending time teaching and breaking down concepts... I suppose that's why he's The Retriever Coach. If you're interested in his work, then check out his program FETCH. PS. Did you see we launched new shirts? Our buddy, Mike Hosier, did the artwork for this shirt and we're pumped share it with you all. Mike is doing a Kickstarter for his awesome photo journal with his dogs. I'd highly recommend you check it out here. Lone Duck's Gun Dog Chronicles is part of the Waypoint Outdoor Podcast Crew Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Inax, get in the hunt, baby. Me and Andy go out. We go grouse hunting. And to be honest with you, I just follow the dog. So I'll be wandering through the woods and I'll get turned around. I'll be like, I don't want to get back to my truck. Well, with on X. So if you're like me, have that sucker on your phone. On X, get in the hunt and get back to your truck.
