Summary

Tonight we have one of our favorite guests back on the show, Kevin Cheff, the Retriever Coach. We catch up with Kevin and learn about his new online coaching platform he calls Fetch... you should check it out if you haven't yet. The main topic of tonight's conversation is super timely. We discuss important drills and tasks to do right now before your dog gets back into advanced training and the hunt test season rolls around. One of the themes I noticed in the conversation with Kevin was simplification and establishing high standards with your dog training. Kevin does an extremely thorough job of explaining how he does this with drills and how to correct the dog properly during the drills. We talk about a whole bunch of topics like: holding blind manners, wagon wheel, refining targeting, having discipline with your dog, reviewing swim by to keep your dog crispy and stalling at the right time, marking drills, retired guns and walking singles. Oh, just all those topics? Yes, and with meticulous detail. In fact, we dig into these drills so much that we decided to make this a two part series! I'll leave you with a great quote from Kevin during this episode, "good reps enforce good behavior." It seems simple, right... but ask yourself if you consistently do that with your dog or just doing lots of reps.
