Monday night edition of the dunked on basketball podcast fun one coming up today Dylan Murphy is back

We're hoping to have him on regularly to talk about what his observations are as he's watching a ton of games

If you don't know Dylan. He is the author of the basketball dictionary series

He's writing a little bit for the athletic as well wrote a nice piece about Toronto's offense

Absolutely, so the big topic of course in the league is Boston having now one

I think 15 straight games and one of the reasons why I felt like they really weren't gonna be as good as people thought this year

Was that they struggled defensively in the playoffs at times

They weren't that good and then they lost Jay Criter who we thought was a pretty good player

They lost every Bradley as well and they're gonna be

Kyrie Irving not a great defensive player. They're gonna be relying on rookies or second-year guys

Jason Tatum Jalen Brown didn't think necessarily that those guys could be that good

Of course they now have the number one defense in the league by a mile

So how are they doing it? You know, I don't think there's been a massive structural change to what they're doing

In fact, just you know watching some film of last year compared to this year

I mean tactically it's really the same thing. They you know middle ball screens

They their bigs are in a drop and they go over and under depending on personnel

The side they're icing everything setting it down to the corners

You know a lot of people pointed they're switching more this year

But if you really look at it, you know one of the common things across the NBA that teams do is they switch like size and

This year they have a lot more like size guys on the perimeter playing their rotation
