And we're going to drive the bus on this episode. But first, we're going to do our jobs.

We did get an opportunity, Nathan and I to talk with Ryan Day, Tristan Jebbia, Kyle McCord, and Devon Brown,

ahead of the start of fall camp, which as you're listening to this, we're out watching practice on Thursday.

So on Wednesday afternoon, we got a chance to talk to those guys and just preview the start of what will be Ryan Day's fourth quarterback battle,

since he's been in the program. Third, as the head coach, obviously, he was the offensive coordinator.

So that's quarterback coach back in 2018 during that the Wayne Haskins, Joe Bro, competition for what will be his fifth quarterback since he's been here

if you had in J.T. Barrett, Justin Fields and C.J. Stroud along with that.

And Ryan Day said some interesting stuff. We didn't learn a whole lot because obviously they're not going to tell us everything because

you don't want to give me anything away. But Nathan, we did learn one thing.

I don't know if you were aware of this or not Nathan, but once upon a time, Ryan Day played quarterback. Did you know that?

It was a shock situation. Yeah.

Crazy. And his there is something to be learned from that. Obviously, Ryan Day played quarterback from New Hampshire in the 90s.

But the thing that maybe we could take away from that is how that quarterback battle was handled when he was going through it.

And maybe how he used that experience and applied it to as he is now a head coach through multiple quarterback battles, having to decide who he wants to be his starting quarterback.

Do you have to say about some of that stuff, Nathan?

You know, I think it's maybe more instructive this time around than it would have been in the previous ones.

The 2018 with Borough and Haskins. That was pretty much decided in the spring when Borough couldn't compete fully.

And 2019, there wasn't one no matter what they said with Justin Fields and the rest of that roster in 2021.

There was more of one, but C.J. Stroud, I think pulled away pretty comfortably there down the stretch.

So this one being this tight into camp sounds like it's more reminiscent of what Ryan Day experienced in his second year at New Hampshire, where he said that it was three weeks in the camp and after they had their final scrimmage before he knew he was going to be the starting quarterback.
