Summary

In this episode Chris Trybus tells his story. Giving evidence in his own defence for the first time he denied ever hurting his wife. In fact he he loved Tarryn Baird dearly. He said they had a very ordinary marriage apart from their sex life which he admitted was kinky and spicy. He said dealing with Tarryn’s death was the hardest thing he’d ever faced and he said his happy memories of their marriage had been tainted by her allegations.

Welcome to the trial UK, driven to death. I'm Caroline Cheatham and on Nick Fage. A warning,

0:14.0

this episode will outline evidence about suicide from the very beginning and also allegations of domestic violence. So today on the podcast,

0:24.1

we're going to hear from the man on trial. The man accused of killing Taryn Bairn Baird because of

0:29.8

the abuse, he allegedly subjected her to. As Christopher Triber started giving evidence in his own

0:35.7

defence, he said he did not control, abuse or rape his wife.

0:40.4

He said Tarin was in charge in their relationship.

0:43.4

She made the decisions and she was more willing to be confrontational.

0:47.8

He said he still loved her, but the good memories of their happy marriage were now tainted by her allegations that have put him in this

0:54.9

position. Today we also have the evidence of the police officer who saved Harron's life and also

1:02.7

from the officer who found her body two months later. Welcome to episode 10, The Husband. We'll be back

1:10.5

in a second.

1:35.9

Thank you. Okay, welcome back to the podcast. As promised today, we're bringing you the evidence from Chris Tribus. At about 2 o'clock, in fact, at precisely 2 o'clock, because this judge runs

1:42.0

everything to time I'm finding in this trial. Chris Tribus chose

1:46.4

to go into the witness box and to tell the jury about his life. His relationship with Tarin from

1:52.2

their school days, their marriage, their broader families, their income, their cars, his work,

1:58.3

her mental health, their sex life, and ultimately what he says about the allegations

2:03.7

that he's now facing. We're going to come to all of that shortly. First, though, we wanted to

2:09.5

bring you some of the really powerful and emotional and upsetting evidence from two police officers who are linked to the case. One of these

2:20.6

officers saved Taryn's life and one two months later who arrived to try to save her life and found

2:28.8

her body. So the evidence we're going to start with is from a man called PC Luke Hobbs.

2:35.6

Now, he was sent to check on Taryn after Wiltshire Police got a call about her welfare.

2:41.2

And that was because she'd made a call saying she was going to take her life.
