And welcome to the drive time podcast on today's show. You heard Jammari Sawyer off the top there. We're going to talk to him about his time in Miami so far. What attracted him to the Dolphins and just some of his football acumen that jumps off that interview when you hear from the Bigfellow. Plus, your guys' melbaid questions were so good. And I had so many more that I couldn't get to in the last episode. So we're going to run it back again, Salier and Melbag. Let's go! Welcome back into the show. My guest today is a new Miami dolphin, Jamari Salier. Jamari, what's up, man? How you doing? Man, I'm doing great. I'm blessed to be here. Excited for the opportunity. talking to you since we signed you because I watched your tape and was a big fan of your game. And so we'll get to that here in just one second. You signed with the Miami Dolphins. This is your first chance to really explore, you know, choosing where you play football since you chose Georgia,

1:08.2

right? No doubt. What was the free agency process like and what attracted you to the Miami Dolphins?

1:11.9

Yeah, for sure. So I think for me process like and what attracted you to the Miami Dolphins?

1:11.9

Yeah, for sure.

1:12.5

So I think for me, it's always been about finding the right situation. And I think that that's what I prioritize the most. I think starting off, obviously I got off to a really hot start with LA. Played a lot my rookie. I played a lot in my second year. kind of tiled off my third year and played some last year too.

1:27.9

So I think I just wanted to find the right situation.

1:30.2

And I think that the Dolphins kind of got a chance to talk to Coach Halfley during the free agency process. And, yeah, I mean, it was awesome just to hear his perspective of what he wanted for this place, his vision. And so it's something that really attracted me to this place, kind of shot them up the list of teams that I had. And so yeah, it was, it's awesome. It's something I really want to be a part of. And I've known guys that have played for him. A lot of Georgia guys played for him last year. I know John Johnson really well played for him in college. So yeah, everybody has Raven glowing reviews of Coach Halfley. So, you know, I wanted to come out here and see what it is about.

2:01.4

That was a question I had later on for you.

2:02.9

So I'll go ahead and move it up here because it seems like we've had a pretty consistent theme. He's talked about the four core pillars, you know, toughness, trust, accountability. And really, it seems like you match that really well. Like, how would you describe how you guys click together? I guess without giving away details of your conversation,

2:17.6

just why do you think that marriage is looking good so far?

2:19.7

I mean, I think just for me, I've you describe how you guys clicked together. I guess without giving away details of your conversation,

2:17.6

just why do you think that marriage is looking good so far? I mean, I think just for me, I play for a lot of different coaches in a lot of different places. And so you kind of get an idea of what's real and what's not, what sounds genuine, like what does this person stand for? And then he also has a proven track record, which is a big deal to me. I played against his Green Bay defenses. They play really hard.

2:34.2

They play really well. And then he's been around like-minded individuals. The guys that I play with at Georgia, I kind of know how they're wired. And so to me, it was kind of like a match made in heaven and a little, in a, of sorts. And so for me, it was a big deal to just kind of find the right person that will pull the most out of me.
